Hi. We took in a stray cat about 5 months ago. When we finally could pick him up we
took him to our Vet and had all his shots and had him neutered. Our Vet guessed that
he was about a year old. He was a joy. He was loving, VERY playful and we just love
him. All of a sudden he became listless. We took him to the Vet immediately - he had
a temp of 105.5. The vet medicated him, hydrated him and sent us home with medicine. He didn't seem to get any better. We took him back in 7 days. His temp was
103.3 and blood tests showed that his white cell count was about 600 count below
normal. He gave us another antibiotic which we gave him. He still will not play, He walks around, eats a little, drinks a little, but has had a complete personality change. The Vet said he tested him for Feline Leukemia and it was negative. He now goes away
all day, comes back at night, eats a little, and crawls in a corner. Do you have any
suggestions? We have two other cats who are healthy. He loved playing with them, but
now just doesn't play at all. We want him back to his playful self, but haven't a clue what to do. Can you help?

Hi,

Thank you for taking in this precious boy and making him your own! : )

When the vet tested him for feline leukemia, do you know if he was also tested for FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) and FIV (feline aids)?

It's possible that his symptoms are being caused by a viral or bacterial infection and the newest course of antibiotics may do the trick.

According to his symptoms, there are a lot of possibilities to be considered and I think you'll find the website below, helpful:

I hope your cat is back to himself very soon and please keep me posted on his condition. Thanks!

Cher
