Hi I have two cats that seem to be sick their mouths are chattering and seem to have
a discharge I have seven cats altogether but only two appear to have this symptom. What could it be ? I noticed one of my cats the other day had a red spot on her nose but she isn't the one with the teeth chattering she always hides so it's hard to tell if she is sick as well. The other two cats that are having this problem don't have a red spot. Could it be their food I noticed that they didn't eat much yesterday my husband just put a new bag of food out. They eat Science Diet and we have not changed their food brand. Please help. Thank you.

Did all your cats eat some of this food?
What does the discharge look like?
Any diarrhea?
When exactly did they eat this food?

Yes they all ate the food they share a large food container so I am assuming they all ate the same food and drank the same water but only two of them have that mouth chattering and discharge. One looks like his mouth is swollen I noticed it yesterday and cleaned his mouth I thought maybe he hit his mouth because he is always jumping on top of the china hutch but today noticed a second cat doing the same thing. They are both male cats I have three females two of which seem fine the other hides all the time so I can't tell if she is having any problems.

Dear friend,
I do not want to alarm you but I feel this is potentially serious.
Dishcharge and mouth swelling are indicative of poisioning.
I would immediatedly discontinue the use of this food and remove any that was down.
In addition, immediately take the two sick cats to a vet with a sample of food.
There is some contamination or mold in this product. When you get back call the pet food company. I am sure they will reimburse you for any medical expenses.
Please let me know how the cats are doing when you get home.
