Question

female cat serious weight loss, no runny eyes or nose, no fever, loose

Sent to Cat Experts July 09, 2006 6:33 a.m.

I really need help. A little female cat, very young, and had obivously had a litter, probably her first heat, showed up at my house. I have two other cats. She looked half starved and like she had travelled a thousand miles. my roommate and I searched for the kittens, because we believe she was dumped...we found them after a week... Here's the problem I need advice with...I am feeding her three times or more a day...she is not gaining any weight. Her stools are like puddles, very soft but not watery. Yes, I know I should take her to my local vet, but I am on a tight budget and do not have a couple of hundred to spend...If I did I would...The kittens are 6 to 8 weeks and since we brought them home they are eating solid food and except for occasionally leave mom alone...Any suggestions on how to soothe her bowls and stomach so that what goes in doesn't come back out almost immediately...

Optional Information:
Age: 2; Female; Breed: feline, possible russian blue

Already Tried:
I am feeding her 1/2 can of food 3-times a day, she won't eat dry food. she drinks water, and I gave her some "cat" milk with a raw egg in it which she devours...
