Previous owners left behind feral barn cats; one I have tamed and bring inside periodically. Four days ago she appeared with three open wounds between her left eye and ear. I have no experience with wounds as my cats are INDOOR ONLY but fear she may have tangled with a raccoon or bit by a Brown Recluse spider. She is still eating and drinking. My husband does not share my passion for animals and refuses to spend money on a barn cat. Any ideas? Should I clean her wounds with peroxide? I would rather end her life than have her suffer.

It is fine to clean them with some peroxide and put some antibiotic ointment on the spots for a few days. They should at least have a rabies shot if you are going to handle them. Most vet offices will allow you to bring them in for just that with no exam fee. Call your local vets and see if they offer that service where you live as this is for your protection as well.
