I have 5 cats and 3 of them vomit. Two of them vomit everyday and it is ruining my rugs. Is there a reason for this? It is not furballs that come out except one of my cats does have furball issues. What can I do?

What type of food are you feeding, and how often?

I apologize, I should have given you this information. I feed them Purina dry food for indoor cats twice a day. I am trying to monitor the food that is eaten as some of them are a bit large. And as a token dinner at night when I feed the dog, all 5 split 1 can of friskies wet food. I have tried Iams and other dry foods to see if that helps but the vomiting continues. They are not sick, it isn't that. I feel like sometimes they do it just to do it. Thank you for your help with this.

I have found (especially in multi-cat households like mine) that sometimes it's a "race for the food" and there is where I "think" your problem lies. First, consider leaving the dry food out all day for them...get a automatic feeder (they're about $15 at Pet Supply Stores) and fill it up. Since you have a dog too, put the feeder up on an acceptable surface that the dog can't get to it. Cats will NOT as a rule, overeat. What is probably happening is they are literally scarfing the food down quickly, worrying that they will miss out....this causes them to vomit. Also, they are eating more, because again, they have to make sure they "get their fair share". I think if you go to a free-feeding program with the dry food, and continue the canned as you're doing now, within a week you will see a marked improvement in the problem. If not, let me know, and we'll see what else we can come up with! Good luck - I think you'll find that this really DOES work.
