Question

transient dm in felines

Sent to Cat Experts June 27, 2005 10:49 p.m.

i have a male 5 yr old, neutered feline. a day ago he was having seizures and i brought him to a emergency clinic. They're first response was that it was FLV but he had a vaccination for FLV when he was small and he had a test 2 yrs ago and it came up negative. They wouldn't go further without the FLV test....so i took him home and brought him to my family vet. They did blood work and decided that it was transcient diatbetes....perhaps pancreatitis but from the tests they were leaning very much toward diabetes. they sent me home with a can of science diet a/d ....told me it was by prescription only and gave me a prescription for 6 more cans. Told me that in 2 to 3 days if he's still having seizures, that it might be pancreatitis and they should run more tests. i'm concerned b/c i can't find research on science diet a/d and i wasn't told what it is for and if it's really for diabetes or are they just selling me it b/c they an agreement with science diet? is science diet prescribed to transient dm?
