Customer (name blocked for privacy):Do you think that he have rabies? Even though he had the shot?
Dr. Debbie:Hello.
Dr. Debbie:I don't think he has rabies,
Dr. Debbie:let me ask a few questions, though.
Dr. Debbie:How long has he had the foaming?
Customer (name blocked for privacy):What do you think? He started the foaming today.
Dr. Debbie:-
Dr. Debbie:How many hours has he had the foaming?
Dr. Debbie:-
Customer (name blocked for privacy):It started around 2:00pm
Customer (name blocked for privacy):today
Dr. Debbie:Has he been exposed to any skunks, foxes or raccoons? These are the main vectors of rabies.
Customer (name blocked for privacy):No, just my other cat that I didn't get rabies on.
Dr. Debbie:Has the foaming decreasd any since 2:00?
Customer (name blocked for privacy):It's off and on. He still was eating.
Dr. Debbie:How is his energy level and appetite today?
Customer (name blocked for privacy):He did eat today but he is laying around today. And he meow's more than he does
Dr. Debbie:Most of the time a sudden onset of foaming at the mouth is from tasting something noxious such as a plant or especially any plant sprays, herbicides or pesticides
Dr. Debbie:Another possibiloity is if he developed an ulcer in his mouth which are usually far back at the base of the tongue.
Customer (name blocked for privacy):I thought I saw when he went to the do his thing, I thought I saw a SOS pad (material coming out of his butt)
Dr. Debbie:-
Dr. Debbie:Aaahhh you may be on to something
Customer (name blocked for privacy):I didn't get your response
Dr. Debbie:That sounds like a definite possible cause.
Customer (name blocked for privacy):Would he at that way? You think he doesn't have rabies??
Dr. Debbie:It should be better by morning if it is tasting something like that or even ingesting it
Customer (name blocked for privacy):do you think he have rabies?
Dr. Debbie:I don't think he has rabies. The chances would be very, very low
Dr. Debbie:especially since he had a vaccination and he hasn't been exposed the the carriers of rabies
Customer (name blocked for privacy):because he had the first shot?
Dr. Debbie:-
Dr. Debbie:Yes, that is a good way to protect them from rabies.
Dr. Debbie:that is why we give the vaccination, so they won't contract the disease
Customer (name blocked for privacy):One more question, since my other cat didn't get a rabie shot, because she' on the patio too, I just need to get her a shot.
Dr. Debbie:-
Customer (name blocked for privacy):See my question
Dr. Debbie:Yes, a vaccination for rabies will protect her from contracting the disease.
Customer (name blocked for privacy):Thank you!!!
Dr. Debbie:-
Dr. Debbie:You're welcome.
