Sent to Cat Experts March 19 8:30 p.m.

We have a cat that drinks / eats frequently, consequently urinating a lot and having a lot of stools and not always in her litter box. She also has a very large patch of dandruff on her back side. Another strange thing is that she doesn''t walk on her toes, its more like she''s walking on her elbows (I hope that makes sense). She still has an appetite, so we''re not sure what is wrong with her. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you very much!

How old is your girl?

Is she losing weight? Or is she overweight?

I would highly suggest getting some bloodwork run on your girl. She may be diabetic. Actually of her symptoms fit even to the walking low on her legs as this can be a neurological condition caused by elevated blood glucose. It would also be a good idea to have a full blood panel on her instead of just a glucose because she is bordering geriatric years which brings a number of other issues into the picture including Cushing's disease, kidney disease, and hyperthyroidism.

Please let me know if further assistance is needed.

Theresa
