My 12 year old male neutered Persian has some fur missing ...

My 12 year old male neutered Persian has some fur missing on his one ear. I thought he may have been playing too rough with his other two housemates but now noticed that his other ear is getting a small bald spot too. Is this some kind of fungus ? He is an indoor cat.
