I share your concern for your cat. Eyes are considered an "emergency" which means it should be seen tomorrow. She may have something in her eye, or a corneal ulcer which is a "defect" or scratch in the outermost surface of the eye. It is painful which is why she probably isn't opening it. Your veterinarian can determine if it's an ulcer by putting a stain in the eye and seeing if it adheres to the surface of the eye. If it's an ulcer, it's important to be treated.
