Question

Hello. My cat pees in the house, we think he has a problem. His litter box is constantly being cleaned, yet he ignores it. We've taken him to the vet, gotten him a special diet, had urine samples... He is the sweetest cat, so we don't think it's a behavior problem. My mom has gotten so fed up with him that she's locked him in a cage with all his necessities, including a litter box. What can we do? I would like to keep him, and I was thinking of maybe building a large outdoor enclosed cage-structure for the summer months and then move that into our garage in the winter. What options do I have for my cat? Can I find a cheap cage (less than $100) or does it have to be ridiculously expensive? Is there anything else we can do for my cat? Can we build a cage? Should we take him to a different vet? Please help!

How old is he? Is he neutered?
Has he always done this or is it new behavior?
