My ferret is 1 1/2 yrs old. Up until May 24, 2006, he was full of life; when I went to his cage May 25, he could not walk. I immediately took him to the vet. She said his front right paw was swollen; gave cortizone shot and Ampicillian. He had fever of 105.5. 2 days later I took him back and vet added Baytrill tabs and a shot. His appettite is good; he has been on Pedalyte and still is. Exactly 7 days later he can walk a short distance and then falls down on his shoulders; he did this for 2 days and now he won't walk again. There's no fever; xrays have been taked of his front shoulders and front legs; nothing broken. He will eat dry cat food; I mix Gerber turkey w/ferret food, Pedalyte, and Ferrivite and alternate this.Sometimes he is alert - eyes bright - then sometimes his eyes look sick. He has started grinding his teeth while he is eating; I look in his mouth and he has already swallowed all the food. His stool was green/black a week ago, then normal, then today black green (sticky) No blood work has been done. I have spent numerous hours on the internet and have not seen these symptoms. I had a ferret that had hair loss, tumors, etc and had him put to sleep 2 years ago. I don't know where to turn; the vet here does not have a lot of expertise with ferrets.

Thanks
