We have several 6 week old kittens who lost their mother at 3 weeks.   We have been feeding them kitten formula from a bottle until this last week when we started feeding them formula from a bowl.   We also started putting out kitten chow for them too.   One of the kitten is losing weight and will not eat now. When I try feeding him from a bottle I have to force him and then he just throws it up.   He is acting weak also.   Any suggestions? I live in a small town and dont have a vet available til Monday.   Today is Saturday.

Optional Information:
Age: <1; Male; Breed: Kitten

Already Tried:
Force feeding it kitten formula, but it throws it up later. All the kitten wants is water and it wont go to the bathroom when stimulated.

I have read articles on-line stating simular symtoms for cats that have swallowed something such as a string.   If this is the case will the kitten live until Monday?   Just 2 days ago the kitten was playing with the others and eating and drinking normally. Should I let the kitten drink as much water as it wants?

I am sorry I keep asking more, but to lose the mother cat just a few weeks ago, it would be devistating to me and to our kids to lose one of the kittens, even though they have good homes to go to after they are weaned completely. I just want to make sure that the vomiting of the formula and the weekness of the kitten is not as serious of symptoms as maybe I am making it out to be.   The kitten just wants to sleep, drink a little water and fall back asleep, purring in my lap.   Should I force feed him the formula from a bottle, or let him drink some formula when he wants?

Don't apologize for being a worried momma, s'OK. We haven't really tried to determine the vomiting other than to suppose something rattling around in his stomach. If he is just vomiting after you put something down his throat, the addition of whatever it is is nauseating to him. If he tends to keep liquids down, then make sure whatever is in his formula is equally liquid.

Cats are designed by Mother Nature to eat several small meals a day... they can't bold a large meal and expect it to last more than two days without causing some problems. We feel it necessary to get something down a sick cat more often than every other day. Kittens are even more demanding, as are all weanlings. So, with that combination, hypoglycemia is a possibility as a complicating factor.

To help counter that, let's add a couple drops of Karo syrup onto his tongue and see what effect that has. It should perk him up. Try it yet tonight, followed by some liquid formula. Hopefully he will accept it eagerly.

Let me know how he acts Sunday, and Happy Mothers' Day !
