Question

Can prednisolone cause seizures in a cat?

Sent to Cat Experts October 24, 2006 11:26 a.m.

Can dosing a cat very moderately with prednisolone bring on seizures?
PigPenTruffly was prescribed pred. for Irritable Bowel Disease and had a few seizures in the past year.
Now she is in Kitty Heaven for kidney failure, only 12 yrs old--with a history of heat stroke and being left unconscious for a few hours a few years ago, my vet felt that the seizures were because of a brain disorder. Now he thinks that kidney failure(build up of toxins) brought on the seizures. I just wonder if pred. is dangerous, generally, and can
cause more damage than good.
It's too late for Truffly--just wondering.

PS I am on a very tight budget, have lots of pets and take care of strays, too.
