Question

I just recently rescued a mom and 2 kittens from my bank ...

I just recently rescued a mom and 2 kittens from my bank parking lot. I have been feeding them for months. A local vet was doing a neuter and spade day..we trapped them... Now, I have had them one week in my home. The kittens I found a place for. The mother is barely eating... I don't think they are part of a colony at all. We have been taking care of them at work. There were 4 kittens but now only two. THey were in and out of the drains but they learned who we were and knew we would feed them. I was not going to seperate the 3. This little mom is so special but in the wee hours of the night when we were still trying to trap the mom, we saw a fox. My question is it better to keep the 3 together and return them to their home at the bank or seperate them....This mother is not responding...is she devistated because her kittens are gone or she simply is only 7 days after her surgury.... pls advise..............
