Question

KITTENS

Sent to Cat Experts September 02, 2006 1:09 a.m.

WE HAVE 3 NEW KITTENS. ONE KITTEN HAS SOME DRY PATCHES ON HER HEAD. THE AREA IS DRY, SEEMS A LITTLE FLAKY AND HAS LOST IT'S HAIR. MY CONCERN IS THAT I HAVE NOTICE THAT MY SON HAS A PATCH ON HIS SCALP THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. IT IS DRY, LOOKS LIKE IT HAS SOME DANDER AND HAS LOST ALL IT'S HAIR IN THAT AREA. PLEASE ADVISE

Hi,

From your description, it sounds like your kitten may have ringworm or another skin condition which must be determined by the vet.

As it's possible that the kitten does have a contagious condition (ringworm is transmittable between cats and humans) which the other kittens might get too, let the vet know that there are other kittens at home.

Take her to the vet as soon as possible and please let me know what the diagnosis is. You should also have your son's doctor take a look at his scalp for diagnosis and treatment.

Cher
