I have 2 abandoned kittens that I am caring for, about 4-5 weeks old. I am feeding them powdered new kittens milk. They have not pooed for the last 2 days and are becoming lethargic. How should I handle this situation?

Dear friend,

Get some canned cat food and water it down to a gruel. Feed them one dropper every ten minutes for two hours. Once they get the taste - they should want to lick it up by themselves. You can also get unflavored pedialyte and water down the kitten milk. However, you need to wean them to cat food at this point. They should begin to move their bowels normally as soon as they do start eating regularly. If necessary, you can put a few drops of mineral oil in some wet food and give it to them. That will produce a bowel movement in two to four hours. But I would wait on that until you see how they do on the cat food.

Please let me know if you still have questions. I am happy to help in any way possible.

Thank you for taking such wonderful care of these babies. May God bless you.

Very sincerely,

Terri
