My kittens (6 months) pass gas! Really! Not all the time, but enough to notice. Is this normal?

Hi Edie,

Your kittens could be having some digestive distress if they're allergic to one or more ingredients in their food. Foods that contain a lot of 'fillers' like corn, corn gluten and wheat could be to blame.

Also, certain intestinal parasites can cause gas. It's usually accompanied by loose stools. If your kittens seem to be acting normal in all other respects: eating/drinking/elminating/playing normally, I wouldn't worry about it too much, especially if it happens intermittently. Cats DO pass gas on occasion, and it could just be part of their normal digestive process.

If they develop loose stools and/or the gas is really smelly, I'd have it checked out by the vet at that time.

Please let me know if I can assist further.
