I have 12 day old kittens who have stopped nursing. I have a problem with fleas and am giving them fluids. How can I get rid of all the fleas and with what can I rehydrate them? I'm using replacement milk and pedialytes. Thank you

Dear friend,

You MUST get rid of the fleas or they will make the kittens anemic, and kill them. Call garden centers or health food stores to find food grade diatomacious earth. You can put this in the kittens bed and it will smother the fleas and is harmless to the kittens. In the meantime comb as many off as you can.

Make sure the kittens ar warm. Water down the KMR a little with the pedialye. When you drpper feed go very slow and make sure they do not aspirate any into their lungs or get too much at a time.

Let me know if you have trouble finding the earth and I will give you a site where you can order it.

If you still have questions - I will be happy to help.

Very sincerely,

Terri
