My cat had given birth to six kittens 28 days ago, and since then she has been having diarrhea (progessing now to at least 4 times a day) and now she has vomited twice already this morning, what do you think the cause would be? Also, am I allowed to give her any over the counter medicine or allowed to take her to the vet since she is still nursing?

Do the kittens have any diarrhea?

Everything is the same. When she first gave birth to the kittens every other day or so I would give her a little saucer of milk, but then I stopped. I just give her dry cat food and water. Occasional treats, but that's it. The kittens, from what I see, do not have diarrhea.

It sounds like the human milk is the culprit as milk will cause diarrhea in most cats.
You can safely give her goats milk or KMR. Right now, give her one teaspoon of decaf tea. That should stop the diarrhea. If it does not, you CAN take her to the vet for a shot and some flagyl. Just take the the kitttens in the carrier with you.
Beyond the milk, it is not normal for her to have vomiting and diarrhea unless she has developed an infection. If she is still sick, today, I would take her right over to the vet ASAP.
Please let me know how she is and if you have any more questions.
