Question

kittens with ringworm

Sent to Cat Experts May 19, 2005 3:13 a.m.

can ringworm kill a kitten. I have a litter of kittens that are 9 weeks old. There were 7 kittens, but 4 have died. The latest one died this yesterday afternoon around 5:00pm. It was normal as far as eating and playing, yesterday morning at 7:30am. The only thing different is it had green drainage from its eyes in the am. All the other kittens have died with no warnings.

Ringworm usually is not the problem.  It causes skin irritation and rashes but usually not death.

Because of the green drainage, it sounds more like your cats had respiratory infections.  They can be deadly.

There are so many things that can affect these little guys.  Even fleas can kill them.

This is a good time to have mom spayed if you have not done so already.  Otherwise, she will be pregnant again in about 4 weeks.

Let me know if you still have questions.

thank you for your quick reply, but they have been on antibiotics for infection so it is very unlikely that they have uri. Also the drainage happened just hours before death, with no prior symtoms.
