Kitten Sisters Fighting

Sent to Cat Experts September 25 09:52 AM

My fiancee and I just adopted two kitten sisters. At first they would just play lightly but lately they will actually fight for up to an hour not even stopping when one begins to cry/whine. The more aggressive one often starts the attacks while the other runs away. My biggest concern is that they sometimes attack each other's head, including the eye. The only reason for my concern is that their play fighting has clearly escalated in the past few days.

Reply to Terri Riba's Post: They are 6 weeks old and there doesn't seem to be aggression around food although I have noticed a couple of swats around their single food bowl but nothing like the fighting I normally see. In addition, when they finish fighting they are usually tired and will still sleep next to (or at least near) eachother. Furthermore, although it can continue on for an hour or so, it's not non-stop. They do stop and explore a little bit but then they see each other again and go right back at it.

Thanks for the help,
Michael

Dear Michael,

This is very unusual. Most of he time siblings will play fight and even roughly but they should not have so much hostility and aggression. It is possible that they did not receive enough food at their prior home and learned to fight for everything. The best way to remedy this is make sure they are overfed. Leave PLENTY of food in their bowels so they will become confident it will always be available. Also get feliway plugins at a pet supply of www.catfaeries.com as that will safely keep them calm.

PLease let me know how this works out and if you have more questions. I will be happy to help.

Very sincerely,

Terri

Reply to Terri Riba's Post: I apologize for not accepting right away but your answer was not really that helpful. I decided to wait until I could try the Feliway product. I don't mean to seem ungrateful but the problem has not yet improved.
