i brought a stray kitten in. she has blood in her stool. why would that happen? and could it be something that my other cats could get?

Reply to Terri Riba's Post: I think she is about 3 months old. It is bright red It wasn't a lot at all just on the stool. She does have diarrhea. Ive had her 2 days. She is eating purina kitten chow.

Dear friend,
Do not panic! She most likely has coccidia or giardia. These are common parasites that most kittens are born with. Ask your veterinarian for a round of flagyl. That will eradicate the parasite and clear up the diarrhea and blood.
This IS tranferable to other pets through the stool so give this kitten a separate litterbox til you clear this up.
