One more question: I want my 4 week old kitten to be an indoor/outdoor cat and not have a litter box in the future, of course I do now while young and in the house, but my ultimate goal is for her to be outside during the day and inside at night. What is the best way to do this?

Hi there! Sounds like your taking the right steps to start out off. Are you going to have her spayed or declawed? This is going to be very valuable to you in the future if you are wanting her to be an inside/outside pet. Setting a schedule for her to go in and out will help train her to come in and out as you prefer.

Gradually allowing her to go out over time will be the best way to achieve this.

Additionaly waiting till she is 6+mths before allowing her to go out on a regular basis is in her best interest and safety.

Sounds great! I would not suggest having her declawed since she will be outside at times, I personally believe this is cruel. Getting her spayed is going to help you wonderfully and is better for her healther as well.

When letting her outside on a regular basis I suggest waiting till she is fully healed after her surgery and starting it off for small intervals and gradually working your way up from there. If you regulate her feeding time and are consistant w/ this she will learn this and would be a good training tool for her to learn to come inside to eat, as well as when outside time is.
