since it is a stray, and used to "going" where it wants, you need to keep the kitten in a small space, with room for a box, like a pet carrier. place its bed next to the box, and food and water inside with the kitten. after two or three days, he will be using the litter box inside the carrier, since cats are clean animals and dont like to potty in their bed. then keep the kitten in the bathroom, with the same box and litter with it in the same room, with bed, food and water. the kitten then should use the litter box, and when it successfully uses the box, you can take it out for petting and playing, but return it to the litter box every 2-3 hrs until kitty gets the idea.
any more questions, feel free to ask.
