Question

Kittens sticky eyes

Sent to Cat Experts August 09, 2005 12:33 p.m.

I have 3 4-week old kittens. Two still have sticky stuff in their eyes, one is closed up every morning. I have been washing with warm water and a cloth to help her get them open. What should I be doing?

The warm cloth is good! You can also try cleaning the eyes with sterile saline.
Sounds like these guys have an upper respiratory infection which you can read about here

They may need to see the vet for eye ointments. Often you can take one kitten and explain the whole litter is like this and get meds for all. Ask the scheduling clerk if the vet will do that or needs to see the whole litter and if they will do a reduced rate if the whole litter is brought in.
Hope this helps you!
