Question

Excessive Feline Urination

Sent to Cat Experts February 15, 2005 9:19 p.m.

Our cat has been urninating excessively lately. In a matter of two days, he can make a litter box unuseable it is so clumped because of urine. Then he urinates on the floor next to the box. This is very unusual behavior for our eight year old cat.

I hauled about 10 pounds of urine soaked litter from his box tonight after changing all the litte out less than 48 hours ago.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

This is unusual for any cat and is a RED FLAG in veterinary medicine. You need to have your cat seen tomorrow at a vet. They will need to run some bloodwork and check the urine.

One of the most common causes of this is diabetes, so please schedule him to go in as soon as possible.

Let me know if you have further questions.
