A feline of mine is suspected of having hepatitis. What is the normal prognosis? She is also being treated at a local Animal Hospital for said problem.

Hi,

I am so sorry that your cat is having trouble. I am wondering what type of hepatitis this is as there are several and the treatment varies greatly. Heptatitis is a word used to describe an infectious or inflammatory condition in the liver. Treatment includes getting rid of the underyling cause for the hepatitis. Her prognosis would depend upon her condition and the underlying reason for the hepatitis. Has she stopped eating? Does she have a fever? Is she vomiting? How long has this gone on? What were her lab values? There are some really good herbal remedies to help with this issue - you can still treat allopathically (western med) and use them. It has been documented in the veterinary literature about the benefits of MSM and Milk Thisle in liver injury. Most vets, even the traditional ones will use it.

I hope that this helps - please let me know how I can help.
