feline toxoplasmosis
Sent to Cat Experts May 19 01:28 PM

My 10 yr old male cat has a borderline titer positive for toxoplasmosis. He was missing for nearly 8 weeks when I found him. He apparently ate some rat or something while he was missing. He also has hepatic lipidosis and is on meds for that. His temp was high but is down to 101.6. He has a feeding tube inserted - upon review by ultrasound all his other organs and fine. He'll eat a tiny bit on his occasionally and drink from his water bown occasionally, but most of his nutrients are coming through the tube. I've read that in an immunodeficient cat (which mine obviously is at the moment) toxo is usually fatal. I can't get in touch with the vet this morning, but I do think my cat is showing some good signs and there is reason to be optimistic. Can you shed any more light on feline toxoplasmosis?

I think when they are talking about immune supression they mean co-infection with feline leukemia virus (FeLV) or feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) not just being otherwise ill.
If you get the liver situation under control he should begin eating better.
I think any eating is a good sign when dealing with the liver problem especially when you are also using a feeding tube.
If you aren't treating for the toxoplasmosis you might ask your vet about antibiotics and if the liver can handle them.
Hope this helps you!
