We came home home today and found that our cat had left 2 spots of vomiting. Since we have been home he has vomited 2 more times. It is mostly watery and sort of clear, but some food is in the vomit. He has not eaten and has refused his favorite soft food. He is also hiding behind our bathroom door which normal.

Hi there,

I am sorry your kitty is having trouble. I am pretty worried about your kitty becuase of the sudden severity (vomiting repeatedly clear watery fluid and not eating). This can be because of several things. I am most concerned about a foreign body causing a full obstruction, and this is a life threatening and time sensitive issue. If your kitty did ingest a foreign object and it is still in the stomach, it may be able to be removed with an endoscope. While the use of the endoscope does require general anesthesia, it is not as expensive or as invasive as surgery is. If the object has moved past the stomach then it is beyond the reach of the endoscope and surgery is necessary. It is of utmost importance that kitty be seen ASAP, as it can save you alot of money and kitty alod of discomfort. I think it would be a good idea to take this kitty to the emergency hopsital tonight.

Pancreatitis is a life threatening condition that occurs if kitty gets people food or eats some garbage. This illness often requires hospitalization, iv fluids, iv antibiotics, iv pain medicines, and sometimes blood and plasma transfusions. Cats that have pancreatitis and go without medical attention can become very sick, and can experience collapse, shock and death.

Intestinal parasites can also cause some vomiting and loss of appetite, but usually not this suddenly and to this severity. I feel strongly that your kitty needs to be examined by a vet as soon as possible. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. If this has been helpful, please hit the green accept button. I hope your handsome man feels better soon!
