Cat throws up daily

Sent to Cat Experts March 15 10:18 AM

My cat is an indoor cat approx. 14 years old throws up every morning (prior to feeding) Most of the time there is no hair in it so I assume it is not hairballs. I have tried to change the brand of food (oh yeah, she will only eat wet food) but it has not helped. I have tried pet grass, but she rarely eats it. Is she real sick? what can I do to help because she is really doing a number on the carpets and she is probably in pain

Reply to Dr. Vamvakias's Post: Yes, it seems to be that way, it is usually about an hour before I feed her in the morning. The afternoon feeding she is fine, it seems to be just every morning.

Usually this happens due to the acid content in the stomach...it gets turning when they know they are going to be fed...

Now it can be from the acid hitting the esophageal irritation from hairballs. So you can try using an over the counter hairball medicine first thing in the morning and at night for a few days and see if there is a difference.

Another option...first thing is to give 1 tsp of Maalox and feed about 45 minutes later.

Let me know how it goes.
