I have a 2.5 year old male whom has trouble with ear mites ( reinfecting with them) this time he has sores and a blister inside one of his ears ( from scratching?) but my actual concern is that behind his right ear lower ear is a lump? do you know what that is? is it contributed to the ear mites and what should i do?

He is an indoor cat and also has his shots and been nutured. I have taken him to two vets about this. The first vet told me his ears are just dirty and i believed her :/
Then I got a new vet closer to our home and she said he has ear mites. She treated him several times and I have too with otc ear mite meds.. It seems to never really go away. and now he has a lump. I am just sick over this :(
thanks so much
