Dear friend,
It is possible she can develope hyperthyroid. A blood test would tell you if this is so. However, I have found with older cats that are losing weight and vomiting- the best thing to do is feed them very small meals very often. That way there is never too much food in the stomach at one time and the cat is better able to digest and process her food. A higher calorie more nuritious food is a/d that you can get from your vet and suppliment the 9 lives. You can also boil chciken or fish with no seaoning as this is pure protein and wil put weght on her. Commercial foods have a lot of useless fillers that sometimes cause vomiting.
Motitor her blood sugar carefuly because unlike people, many diabetic animals turn around and "recover" and no longer need insulin. When she does get it, it should ALWAYS be given with food.
Please let me know how she is doing on the new feeding schedule. If yo still have questions, I will be happy to help.
Sincerest best wishes,
Terri
