May cat was a stray I picked about a year ago. When she poops it looks like slurry seal and stinks to high heaven. What could she have?

Hello,

Thank you for sending your question to Just Answer!

If your cat is pooping a very "fowl" smelling poop, it is most probably related to her diet or a possible intestinal problem. I would consider changing her diet for a few days to a very bland diet which includes plain boiled rice and plain boiled chicken. Feed her in several small meals throughout the day. Feed the same again tomorrow.

Try to refrain from feeding milk or soft cat food and once she is showing improvement from the bland diet, I would suggest you put her on a good quality dry cat food such as Iams or Science Diet.

If you do not see any improvement soon, you definetly need to have your vet check her as soon as possible. You want to make sure that she is drinking and eating. If not, this is a huge "red flag" to get her to the vet IMMEDIATELY.

I hope this helps. If you need further information, please feel free to contact me.

Reply to Tammy's Post: and I take it that all her pooping is leaky yet thick and its been that way since day one. Also she's skinny and doesn't gain any weight. Could it also be that she eats baby lizards?
