after getting the ok from dr.terri ribi to give the2.5diazepam to my cat sly he had one at 11.00am at 7:00pm i gave him total for the day 5mg. it didnt sedate him .so i didnt move him to our new place. can i give him the 5mg pill thinking that might sedat him enough where wont be vocal. i cant let anyone know i have him. he is a big cat.

Hi,
When you say it did not sedate him discribe how he was acting.

was he sleepy, meowing, wide awake, etc?

Reply to Terri Riba's Post: most of the time he was awake. then he would sleep a little bit. nothing out of the norm. i just thought if i gave the whole 5mg pill it would sedate him enough he wouldnt care.he sleep quite a bit yesterday but if i call his name he would perk up.

Hi,

It is going to make him sleepy but not put him out like an anesthetic. It is just a sedative. Give it to him one hour before you move with food. Cover the carrier and keep it covered throughout the whole move. He will be too sedated to make any loud noise . Do not give him more 2.5 mg at a time because 5 mg is an overdose and can stop his heart.
