Toxic paint on cats foot pads

Sent to Cat Experts September 16 2006 at 12:39 AM

My cat walked on wet cement floor paint which is toxic. I don't know how long ago, only that its on her foot pads, so I know she has had to injest some of it. What should I do as its 5:36 a.m. and my vet isn't opened today either.
I fixed it. I remembered I had some on my hands when I was painting the floor and I used Lava soap to remove it. I used it on her paws and cut the hair around her pads where the paint wouldn't come off.

How is your girl this morning?

It sounds like your have removed the paint properly. Great job!!!

Now, in case she did ingest any feed her some soft food like canned cat food or tuna to absorb any in her intestines. You can also give her cows milk. If she shows any symptoms of toxicity, a vet can give her activated charcoal.

Please let me know how she is and if you still have questions. I will be happy to help.

Very sincerely,

Terri
