The chemical is the same but the strength is different.
You can see here that there is one area where the dose overlaps in animals under 5 pounds and then differs for dogs and cats.

I would not use dog strength on cats.

I would not. Actualy I prefer to not use Revolution on any of my animals because I'm fussy about how much toxin I add to their systems.
If you think you can save money doing this I would discuss this with your veterinarian about how to buy a large dose of Revolution and split it.

Then either your vet or the web page I gave you would let you calculate dose. You need to look at the amount of med per ampule of donated material. But to be safe have your vet calculate the dose out for you, write it down, and make sure to have an accurate weight on the cats when using it.
Cat rescue is hard work and you probably have a friendly vet who can help you figure the dose info to be safe for the cats.
