My cat just started acting ill yesterday. He is only 2 ...

Sent to Cat Experts August 30, 2006 2:32 p.m.

My cat just started acting ill yesterday. He is only 2 years old. He won't do anything but lay around and it seems like he is having some kind of stomach trouble and he can hardly move his hind end. And now he is throwing up yellow saliva and he hasn't eaten anything today or yesterday. I won't have any money to take him to the vet for 3 more days but I'm afraid he won't make it... doese anyone know what might be the problem?

what did he eat just before he got sick?
Is he able to potty?
Does he ever go outdoors?

He only eats dry cat food.
He never goes outside (I won't let him).
He keeps trying to potty but seems he can't.
The yellow throw up worries me the most. From what I read on the net I think he could have Panleukopenia but I don't know. I'm afraid he won't make it till pay day for me to get him some antibiotics. I'm so upset. He's a very sweet siamese named Wonka. I'm so upset that I can't make him better.

Is he unable or urinate or deficate?
Can you get some plain pedialyte and human chicken baby food and a dropper?

Does he have any fever or sneezing?

There are a few small pebbles of poop in his box, but it appears he hasn't urinated in over 24 hours.
No sneezing.
I don't think he has any fever, if so it's mild.
His belly is swollen. He looks bloated even though he hasn't eaten in well over 24 hours. He won't hardly move but when he does he acts as if his back end is weighted down.
He is an only cat, My baby.

Dear friend,

I would not worry about distemper right now. It is imperative you get vet help for Wonka. He is in very serious trouble. If he is unable to urinate his bladder could burst and he could die.

Please see if www.carecredit.com will loan you money for his care or make a deal with your vet.

Do not pay for this answer - use the money to help your baby.

Very sincerely,

Terri

You just don't know how much your kindness means to me Terri, and I thank you so much for your help. And if he could I know Wonka would thank you too.

Dear Gale,

You are very welcome. I am happy to help. All I ask in return is you let me know that Wonka was seen and he will be OK. That will be reward enough for me.

With utmost sincerity,

Terri
