Our cat was given one injection of baytril (do not know the strength) followed by Azium INJ (2MG) to lessen adverse reaction about 10:00am on 8/19. We were told to give her tabs by mouth on the same day after 8:00pm. Tabs had B23 on pill. We were told to give twice a day. We did give the pill this morning 8/20 but our cat will not eat or drink. Could this be related to taking the baytril? Our vet started on vacation today.

Yes, if the baytril is given orally it can make the cat not want to eat. It can be so severe that sometimes another antibiotic has to be used. Is there another vet in the practice taking over the cases while yours is on vacation? Or are they referring to another practice? If you can, make sure to call tomorrow and see if they want to change the antibiotic. At the minimum, I usually take them off it for a day or two and maybe try again. Most of the time, though, if the baytril causes them to lose their appetite, I just try a different antibiotic. THere are several that can be used instead of baytril. I would skip this evening's dose, and call the vet in the morning.

Does the baytril affect drinking as well?

It can. I believe it can cause the cat to be nauseous, so it may not want to take anything by mouth.

What was the primary condition the baytril was used for? You need to consider this as a cause of the loss of appetite as well...but I usually look at the baytril first if they were eating normally prior to being put on it.
