Cat eye problem

Sent to Cat Experts August 14 10:39 PM

I have a long haired female cat who is about 1 1/2 yrs old. I have noticed every couple of months it seems she has a problem with one of her eyes. She will keep it closed or partially closed & it something moves on that side of her, she jerks away. It always seems to clear up on its own but I'm curious at to what may be causing it. My vet has diagnosed her with gingivitis & we have tried to apply the gel to her gums but she's a squirmer & we have not have any luck. Therefore, her breath has gotten worse & her gums are red & swollen. We are planning on taking her back in to see if there is a pill we can give her for the gingivitis but I'm wondering if that could be causing the eye problem every once & a while. Maybe a tooth problem is working its way up toward the eye area? What are your thoughts?
