The best thing to put on the scab is plain vaseline. It is OK if he licks it. If, however., it looks infected as cat bites have a lot of bacteria, use neosporen but do not let him lick that off.

Let me know if you still have questions.

Dear friend,

You can apply a very warm damp compress three times a day as that wil bring any infection to the surface. Then apply either neosporen, triple antibiotic or bacitracin four times a day. Keep him bust for five minutes while it soaks in so he cannot lick any off. As it heals, apply lain vaseline and it is OK if he licks that. Get some waterproof bandaids you can use to keep it covered when he goes outdoors.

If it developes pus or he seems feverish - he will need an oral antibiotic.

If you still have any questions, just let me know. I am happy to help in any way possible.

Very sincerly,

Terri
