My cat has rapidly deteriorated over the last week from a healthy 2 year old to a cat with very labored breathing zero muscle and a forleg that is three times the size of the other. All of the vets are booked for at least 3 weeks and no one will take me based on my explanation of his problems. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be?

This sounds like it could be a blood clot and could be life threatening. If there is an emergency clinic nearby (or even a distance away), I would get your cat evaluated immediately. This cannot wait for 3 weeks, and I would be calling anyone willing to see my cat. There is also a possibility that it could be a bite or a sting and this is an allergic reaction. If you are absolutely unable to contact anyone, I would get some chlortrimaton 4 mg tablets from the pharmacy and give your cat 1/2 of one. If this is a sting, or bite, this may help to keep him from going into respiratory distress until you can get him into a vet. He definitely needs to be seen today, as either scenario could be very bad.

Reply to Lori's Post: Thank you for all of your help. He was seen on monday and found to have had cancer and possibly some other problems. The vet and I came to the same conclusion and unfortunatly I had to have him put down. He was my friend and it pained me to do so, but I would rather have to live with some greif thanhave him live and suffer just so I could enjoy him here. Thanks again.
