I have an 11 year old Tabby. About 4 months ago he started urinating anywhere but in the box. I've had him to the vet and they took a urine sample and it came back negitive for infection. I have recently started seeing someone and am never home. If this is a behavoral problem, what do I do about it? It is just a horrible problem, and am beside myself with what to do. I don't want to get rid of the cat, but at this point it is so bad, I may have to. Can you help?

Hi, a few questions please:

Is this the only cat in the house?
Any change in litter or food lately?
Did the vet x-ray him to check for bladder stones?
Did they perform a cystocentesis (needle through the abdominal wall to collect the urine) and send the urine off to the lab for a culture or just look at the urine in the clinic?

Thanks for your quick response! They did stick a needle through the adominal wall, but they just looked at it. They didn't send it off. They didn't take x-rays, and I have two other male fixed cats in the home. And there has been no change in the food or liter lately.
