i just found a poor little kittie, she has no tail, is cross-eyed (with beautiful blue eyes) and the poor little things rectum and female rejion is very swollen and red- she had diarrhea (sp) on her bottom and down her legs that was light brown and had the consistancy of pudding- i washed her carefully, and her rectum area is bright pink and very distended, and she has pink on her legs where she was dirty- i cannot take her to a vet today ( i am disabled and have no car) what can i possibly do for my little sweetheart??

Dear friend,

First, thank you for rescuing this baby and saving her life. The best thing to do right now is get her clean , hydrated and fed. You can put plain vaseline on all her irritated areas. Add a pinch of salt and sugar to a glass of water and give her some from a dropper to replace her electrolytes. If you do not have cat food yu can feed her tuna boiled chicken fish or groung beef. Do not give her milk as that will cause more diarrhea. You can apply cool damp comresses to her rear and her legs if irritated.

I know you were not prepared for a cat today so just do the best you can with what you have.

Reply to Terri Riba's Post: thank you so much! she is just a darling- i had my neighbor take my son to get her some kitty food- (kitten) and i have cleaned her- should i make a funnel around her head so she doesnt lick and irritate herself more? also is there something i can give her to treat the diarhea? i know sometimes you can give pepto bismol to dogs- but i know kitties are much more sensitive- do you think she has a serious problem? please let me know- i have named her angel- i think it is fitting- :)

Dear Cherise,

What an absolutely wonderful, name - I LOVE IT!! And you are an angel as well for being so good to her.

Do not give her pepto or put cone on her - she has had enough stress. Give her plain yogurt - one tsp. a daycand add cooked white rice to her food. Put vaseline on the sore spots - it is Ok if she licks it.

Terri, i hope you can help again! my sweet angel doesn't seem to be getting better-she is eating okay and drinking some- i think she may have distemper-but i do not have money to take her to a vet here- and i have placed calls to available programs but no response yet- and i am worried- she is so thin and wants to sleep all the time- ( i would too) she is so loving, though, and just wants to be next to me and rub against me all the time. She is such a darling- i am so afraid for her- what do you think i can do- i have her on a little dry kitten chow with a little chicken flavored rice and purina kitten canned food- and generic pedialite with water - please tell me if you think this is okay or if i should do something else- this is the one thing i miss about florida- everything was very close by- i am pretty rural here- :) thank you so much again- :) xxxthe two angels (cherise and angel)
