My cat quit eating and drinking a couple days ago.

Sent to Cat Experts August 06, 2006 4:09 p.m.

My cat quit eating and drinking a couple days ago. He is an indoor kitty about 8 yrs old.
I have been oral feeding him by force using a syringe today. What can you tell me the reason maybe?

Has he been using the litter box normally? Does he go outside at all? Is he current on vaccinations?

He uses litter box as normal although less due to lack of input. He has been an indoor kitty for almost 2 years now. He used to be outdoors when he wanted. As far as the vacs go, we have not kept up with them. He had all the initials but we have been bad about getting him his boosters. He had all the initial tests at Banfields then they suggested ultrasound for verifiing their belief that it maybe hepotic lipodosis. He also has considerable black gunk in his ears that they cleaned one day and only two days later it was back. They gave me drops (tresaderm) to administer.
Please tell me there may be less minor problems causing the non eating as I can not afford the additional tests suggested.
