I have a male cat and am contemplating getting a kitten - the question is whether to get a male or female. would the male see another male as competition? would a female be an easier transition a less of a threat to the adult male? thanks

Is your male neutered? If so you can get either sex. I have three neutered males- all gotten years apart. Fair warning though- no tmatter what you get he is probably not going to like it for the first few weeks and will be very vocal about it. He will however grow to love it and they will become the best of friends (99% of the time).
