My cat scraped the back of his leg, he licks it constantly, the hair is gone and the skin is swollen and warm to the touch. What can I do to help this area heal?

Reply to Terri Riba's Post: The lesions start at the heal of Sage's back left leg and go down around his privates and on his stomach. They look kind of like blisters but they are not pussey or watery, just raw skin. It started about a month ago. Sage is 16 months old. I have tryed putting neosporen on it and washing the area.

Dear friend,

What younhave described on Sage is a haven for bacteria. You must get him an antibiotic from your vet and keep him strictly indoors til this heals. He can develope a very dangerous issue called a systemic infection which can even be life threatening. In the meantime you can use the neosporen or better yet get lanacaine with anesthetic so you will reduce the pain and inflamation. I reall do not like the heat coming from these lesions - it indicates infection so please get Sage the antibiotic ASAP.

Please let me kno how he is and if you still have questions. I will be happy to help.

Very sincerely,

Terri
