Hi Sheri,

Your cat may have an upper respiratory infection and a sore throat or tonsilitis. When you say you noticed a 'lump' in her throat, do you mean you see a bulge in her throat, or you can feel something there? Cats' throats have something normal which feels sort of like an adam's apple; is this what you're feeling? It's also possible that she swallowed something she shouldn't have, like a bone or a piece of a toy or a pin or needle. Is her breathing normal? Does she go outside at all?

If she's not eating or drinking she will become dehydrated which is very dangerous. Do you have an Emergency Animal Hospital nearby? I think you should bring her in to find out what the problem is and have her treated.

Please update me on her condition? Thanks!

Thanks, Sheri, for the additional information!

If she goes outside, you can't be sure what she may have ingested or what may be stuck in her throat. Does she hunt (mice, birds, insects)? Have you tried looking in her throat yourself or is she too upset? I think your safest move at this time is to bring her to the Emergency vet (if yours is closed) and get a definite diagnosis of what's going on.
