Reply to Terri Riba's Post: He just turned 11 years old. He ate this morning. I do not know but his noise and ears are warm and he just wants to lay around in your lap and he is not a lap cat. He had a faint meow when you pick him up. Anything at all I can do. I gave at 230 today a half of a baby aspiring and it seemed to help but here we are at 8 and he looks bad again.

Dear friend,

First, wipe your cat down with a a cool damp cloth - then immediately wrap him in a towel so he does not chill. Next, clean all the mucus away with a warm, damp cloth.

DO NOT give him any more aspirin or other OTC's as they can be toxic to cats.

Water canned cat food down to a gruel and give him one dropper every ten minutes for an hour. If he is not diabetic you can give him plain pedialyte or add a pinch of salt and sugar to a glass of water and givechim one dropper every ten minutes for an hour. Keep alternating.

Run your showere on hot and make a steamroom and take him in for ten minutes to break up congestion.

Please get started and let me know how it is going - I willl stay online with you til he is stable.

Very sincerely,

Terri

Relist: I still need help.
Just an update. I cleaned all the mucas about 2 today and it has not rebuilt up so nothing to clean. His ear and eye on the right side had funk in the one ear that I cleaned earlier and the eye. I used Terramycin in it since he gets this every now and then. When I mixed up the canned cat food he ate it with out the dropper and layed down for me to brush him in the bathroom with the water running for the steam. He only has a fitt with sneezing once maybe twice an hour. It is like he can not catch his breath. Anything else I can do for him? Cindy

Dear Cindy,

I am really happy he is eating - it means he is not feeling that bad. See if you can get some pedialyte or add a pinch of salt and sugar to water and give him a few droppers of that.

He either has an upper respiratory or sinus infection and he will need an antibiotic and a vet exam on monday.

Keep him as quiet as possible til then and keep taking him in the steamroom if he gets congested.

You can continue to use the terramycin.

Keep me updated.

Sincerely,

Terri

Reply to Terri Riba's Post: Thanks for the help. I do exotic animal rescue and have those animals down pat but when it comes to my kitties I do not have a clue and got worried. He is getting older and it worries me with any activity that is unusual.
