Our 12-year old cat had surgery over 3 weeks ago and a ball of Easter grass was removed from her stomach. She is taking antibiotics and a liver pill. Her recovery seems very slow and she went back to the vet about 2 weeks ago and they advised that she may have an infection so stronger antibiotics were prescribed. Her bloodwork was fine. She still eats very small amounts of food at a time, a few times thru the day. She drinks alot of water, moves very slowly, and her breathing is very labored. Is this normal for recovering from surgery such as this? Thank you very much.

With her age the recover time will be extended yes. Depending on the extent of the damage done and whether sepsis was suspected the choice of stronger antibiotic's sounds like a good decision. I would watch her closely and should the labored breathing continue or her appetite decreases then I would take her back in.
